Maria’s run at Roland Garros is over as she lost in the semis to No.6 seed Na Li of China. Maria lost 5-7 4-6 in 1 hour and 48 minutes.
Maria said after the match: “She played a very good match. She certainly played a lot better than I did and a lot more solid, and she played the crucial points better. At times I didn’t serve well, and was rushing more than maybe I had to, and considering the conditions maybe I was just trying to go for too big a second serve especially.“
Maria will finish at No.6 in the WTA rankings unless Francesca Schiavone wins the title on Saturday and then Maria finishes No.7.
